How long have you been doing photography?

I purchased my first camera as a sophomore in college. During my first proposal session in 2017 I fell in love with the emotion and story that photos tell.

When I moved to Canada in 2020 I took classes, invested, threw myself in all kinds of portrait photography, every kind of weather, every lighting variation, and worked on my editing style until where I am today. I am always investing professionally and striving to grow in all areas in order to give my clients a premium and priceless experience.

How many photos will I get and how will I get them?

This all depends on the collection that you choose. If you'd like extra photos above what's included in your booked collection, it is $10/photo, or a discounted rate for the entire gallery.

Fully edited, print-worthy quality, I'll send you a link to a private online gallery that you can download, print, or share with friends.

Will the photos I get have watermarks?

The photos that you get as a part of your collection will be watermark free.

I don't know how to pose, and myself/my partner or family members may be a little shy.

I might start to get worried the day that I don't hear this.

When you book, I'll send a questionnaire over for you to fill out so that I've got ahold of your vision for your session. I'll also send over some guides and we can brainstorm ways to tailor your session to help illustrate your story.

What do I wear to a photo session?

My best is advise is to wear what you feel confident and comfortable in!

However, there are some tips that are worth taking a look at before your session- check out my Outfit Guide here! 

Do you travel? 

I take travel requests on a case by case basis. Depending on the distance, and time of shooting, there could be travel fees incurred due to time and resources spent on my part in traveling.

If I purchase a package with a limited number of photos, how much are extra photos?

​I'll always edit all your photos, post them all to your private gallery, and you can favourite however many are included in your package.

For those which you've chosen, I'll remove all watermarks, and make them downloadable for you at the highest quality, which you can print and share. If you'd like more photos than what's included in your package, it is $10 per each additional photo. Love a lot more? Contact me and I can work out a discount for purchasing the full gallery!

How do you accept payment?

I accept etransfer for easy payment to momentsbykimberly@outlook.com; or you can use the invoices I send out and pay via credit card or bank transfer.

Do you give out RAW files?

Giving out RAW files is like serving you raw chicken, it will taste awful and probably make you sick. It's much better baked well, served with the right herbs/spices, and seared.

It's also more scientific than that- raw files are not like iphone photos you can just "edit;" you need special software to edit (no, Lightroom for phones is not the same thing), lots of storage (most raw files are 30gbs+ each whereas most phones have room for one, maybe two raw files. You can't even email or transfer files this large without using a paid file transfer service that can handle files this large.

If for any reason you are unhappy with any part of an image, I would be more than happy to receive your requests, and potentially offer you a re-edit, free of charge so long as it is within 14 days of you receiving your gallery. Please understand that the types of images you see on my website will be the style I use to both capture and edit your session.​

I deliver authentic photos that are true to representation, so if you have any specific editing requests (like a scar) that you would wish to have removed from your photos, please mention this to me prior to, or during our session, and I will account for it while both shooting & editing to the best of my ability.

What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

I'm always checking the weather prior to photo sessions! Some of the dreamiest lighting happens just after the rain, and a light drizzle shouldn't bother either of us. If the weather predicts heavier rain, I take each instance on a case by case basis and we can reschedule to another date and time that works for the both of us!  

If an emergency comes up, please let me know as soon as possible, and we can reschedule.

Do you shoot in JPEG or RAW?

All professional photographers shoot in RAW.

What kind of camera do you have? 

Before anything else, I want to first mention that expensive gear does not equal quality photos! You can be a photographer with a $100 camera and shoot better photos than others who may have invested tens of thousands in equipment.

That being said, when it comes to special, once in a lifetime moments like a wedding, you do want to know that your photographer is using quality gear. Equipment can fail no matter how expensive it is, so it's important as a wedding, maternity, and newborn photographer to be prepared in the case that this would ever occur. ​

I shoot with Sony A7iv. It's an all around amazing camera- but what's important for clients is that it has dual SD card slots. This basically means that it saves your photos to two different spots at the same time. If one card does corrupt (unlikely, but it is possible to happen to anyone), then you will still have all your photos from your special day.  ​

I actually have TWO backup cameras- 2 A7iii's & multiple lenses just in case. It's unlikely anything crazy will happen to ANY of my 3 cameras, but rest assured if something insane does happen- I have an equal backup (and a backup for that backup!) and we won't be stuck shooting the rest of one of the most important days of your life from an iphone!

What happens if the weather is bad, or an emergency comes up and I can't make the session?

I understand that sometimes things don't go as planned! When you contract me and we set the date and time, I will not schedule any other obligations during this time.​​

If you request I stay longer than the agreed upon times, it will be an additional hourly cost billed to the nearest 1/4 hour, so long as this does not conflict with further obligations that I have.

When can we expect to see our photos?

For all sessions except weddings, you can expect your gallery within 3-4 weeks. (Weddings are 6-10 weeks).​​

There is always an option (session cost x2) to upgrade your package and move it to the top of my queue in order to receive your photos within 5 days of your session! (This option is not available for weddings).

​If you do not choose to upgrade, please understand that there are other sessions before yours I am likely working on and will get to yours as soon as it's next in the queue!

What rights do I have to my digital files?

Per every contract, you have the right to download, print/reprint, and share/post your photos as much as you like! You may not sell or market your images without my written and signed consent.

Per every contract, you may not screenshot/edit/put filters on the photos you receive/view in your gallery and print/promote/share/or post them without my written and signed consent.

Please understand that these images are a representation of Moments By Kimberly Brand.​

If for any reason you are unhappy with any part of an image, I would be more than happy to receive your requests, and potentially offer you a re-edit, free of charge so long as it is within 14 days of you receiving your gallery. Please understand that the types of images you see in my galleries is the type of editing style you will be getting when you hire me.
